Florida Live Scan Fingerprinting Requirements

Whether you're entering healthcare, real estate, or education, understand exactly what you need before your visit. Use our database to find your required ORI number.

Why do I need a fingerprint?

The State of Florida requires Level 2 background checks for individuals in positions of trust. This involves a fingerprint-based search of the FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement) and FBI criminal history records to protect vulnerable populations and secure state interests.

What is an ORI Number?

ORI stands for Originating Agency Identifier. It is a 9-character code that tells the FDLE exactly which state agency (e.g., AHCA, DBPR, DCF) should receive your background check results. You must have the correct ORI number before getting fingerprinted.
